Hastings Karate Jutsu Kai - Our History

Hastings Karate Jutsu Kai proudly boasts two Dojos, headed by Shihan John Wilson 7th Dan and Sensei Warick Avery 3rd Dan

Shihan John Wilson started training at Cranbrook, under an instructor, whose belief it was to make his students “as strong as they could be” and this influenced Shihan John greatly.

Shihan went on to train at Tenterden and Hastings, obtaining his 1st Dan blackbelt in December 1984. From there he has gone from strength to strength and is now a 7th Dan and chief instructor for Karate Jutsu Kai.

Association members regularly travel great distances to train at Hastings, to benefit from Shihan Wilson’s considerable knowledge, and on average, the club has twenty-five to thirty junior and senior members training each week.
